Our Story

How Adil Kasih Came to Be

Adil Kasih was established in Ipoh, Perak, following years of legal practice in the Perak courts and a growing conviction that family law — more than perhaps any other field of legal work — calls for a particular quality of attention.

Families that find their way to a legal practice are rarely at their easiest. There are disputes that have been building for a long time, relationships under significant strain, and individuals who may be encountering the formal legal system for the first time. What those individuals need is not a hurried file-management service, but a lawyer who is willing to spend time understanding the full picture before advising on next steps.

The name Adil Kasih — meaning just care in Malay — reflects the two qualities the practice holds most central to its work. Legal advice that is fair and well-grounded. And a way of working that recognises the human dimension of every matter.

The practice is based at 24, Jalan Anderson in central Ipoh, and serves families across Perak. Consultations can be arranged in person or, where preferred, by telephone or correspondence.

Our Expertise

Family Law Practice in Malaysia — A Considered Approach

Family law in Malaysia encompasses a range of statutes and, in certain matters, personal law applicable to specific communities. The Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 governs civil marriage, divorce, and ancillary matters for non-Muslim Malaysians. The Guardianship of Infants Act 1961 provides the framework for custody and access determinations. The Adoption Act 1952 and the Registration of Adoptions Act 1952 together govern formal adoption proceedings for different categories of applicant.

Navigating these frameworks requires not only legal knowledge but an understanding of how courts in Perak and elsewhere in Malaysia apply these provisions in practice. Adil Kasih brings direct experience of Perak court proceedings to each matter it takes on, which means clients receive advice that is grounded in the realities of the local legal environment rather than generic legal principle alone.

Mediation, as a method of resolving family disputes before they escalate to contested court proceedings, has grown steadily in use across Malaysia. The approach is particularly suited to matters involving ongoing family relationships — parenting arrangements, for example, or inheritance disputes among siblings — where the parties must continue to interact after the legal matter is resolved. A mediated outcome that both parties have genuinely accepted is likely to be more durable and less disruptive to family life than one imposed by a court.

Adil Kasih operates from its office at 24, Jalan Anderson in central Ipoh, with convenient access for families across Perak. All matters are handled directly by the firm's practising advocates, without delegation to unqualified staff.
